Product Tanker Explodes off Hong Kong

Vietnamese product tanker Aulac Fortune, after delivering a cargo of gasoline in Dongguan, exploded and caught fire at 1130 hours about 1 NM to the South of Lamma Island. Multiple cargo tanks were affected, including serious damage to a tank just forward of the house.
The crew abandoned ship into the water, and HKG first responders rescued 23 survivors, including 4 injured crewmembers. 1 crewmember has been confirmed dead, and an additional 2 remain missing. 3 fireboats, 1 dive boat, 1 helicopter, 1 police response vessel, 14 ambulances and about 140 fire and rescue personnel were involved in the casualty response.
The tanker took on a 30˚ list after the blast but is not in danger of capsizing. Salvors plan to tow her to another location for an assessment and repairs. The root cause of the casualty is still under investigation. (MarEx)
