Seeking differentiation, carriers launch faster, guaranteed services

Ocean Alliance announced Day Two Product incorporating 41 services across 7 trades. HMM launched fastest Busan-Rotterdam transit (by 1 day, at least) and already operates on trans-Pacific that charges 10-20% higher rates for faster and guaranteed service. MSC has revised for Mediterranean-US East Coast ports, cutting up to 4 days off.

Maersk is to integrate container logistics through Damco, Maersk Line, and APM Terminals to provide a one-stop-shop. CMA CGM will offer land solutions and logistics, include road, rail, and inland waterway options, and door-to-door services. Cosco Shipping continues to expand into landside logistics to grow its terminal and inland footprint in Asia and Europe.

APL extends Eagle Go service that shippers who pay premium rate will be guaranteed equipment and vessel space on 6 services to the US from 17 European ports, 7 to Australia/New Zealand from 15 Asian ports and get a 100% refund if the carrier fails to meet the delivery date. Eagle Get Guaranteed service assures “expeditious discharge of cargo” within 12 hours of cargo operations starting from the ship.
