Shanghai still world's busiest box port, followed by Singapore

Shanghai International Port Group (SIPG) retained as the world's busiest container port for 9 consecutive years, recorded an increase of 4% to reach 42.01m TEUs throughput in 2018, achieved CNY10.28b (US$1.52b) net profit.

SIN was 2nd, reported an 8.7% growth to reach 36.6m TEUs, with total cargo throughput at 630m tonnes.

SIN remained the world's largest bunkering port in 2018 although the volumes slipped to 49.8m tonnes compared to 50.6m tonnes a year earlier. Singapore Registry of Ships increased 2.4% with total tonnage of ships under SIN flag reached 90.9m gross tonnes in 2018.
