Signs of growth on intra-Asia have carriers expanding coverage

MCC Intra-Asia 9 (IA9) rotation provides Cambodia with direct import services from Kaohsiung, Taichung, Yantian, Hong Kong and Ho Chi Minh into Sihanoukville, and transshipment import services from Northeast Asia ports into Sihanoukville via Hong Kong or Yantian, direct export services from Sihanoukville to Tanjung Pelepas and Singapore which could also serve as transshipment hubs to other Southeast Asia ports.

Expanded Intra-Asia 5 service offers direct export services to Ho Chi Minh, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Ningbo, Busan and Vladivostok, and faster transshipment services to Tokyo, Yokohama, Nagoya and Kobe.

OOCL has expanded its existing CHL service between China and Ho Chi Minh and Laem Chabang, giving wider port coverage, and has extended into 2 loops, the North PRC-South PRC shuttle and the Central PRC shuttle, known as CHL3, will expand to include port calls to Incheon, Ningbo, and Xiamen.

China United Lines has started weekly service connecting Korea and China with Vietnam, Thailand and Cambodia through slots on the southbound leg of Hyundai Merchant Marine’s CTX service. The CU Lines slots cover Xingang, Busan, Kwangyang, Shanghai, Ho Chi Minh City, Laem Chabang, Sihanoukville.
