South China targets rival hub's LCL cargo

Shenzhen Customs has opened a consolidation centre at Shekou aimed at attracting less-than-containerload (LCL) service providers to shift air and ocean transhipment from SIN and HKG.
The Qianhai Multi-Country Consolidation Centre (MCC) was established by China Merchants Port Holdings and China Merchants Bonded Logistics, in partnership with Fox Service, a joint venture between FS International Hong Kong and Singapore LCL consolidator JNC Line.
It is a comprehensive logistics platform for inbound and outbound LCL, and for transhipment cargo, which will not be required to go through the custom clearance process for the first 7 days. The benefit is to ease the inbound customs process as a bonded warehouse. (JOC)
